FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WaterStone Bank Donates $20,000 to Local Organizations in Need Due to COVID-19

Wauwatosa, Wis. – 4/9/2020 – WaterStone Bank announced today that it has donated $20,000 to local organizations in need due to COVID-19. The bank donated $5,000 to four separate organizations: Hunger Task Force, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, Lift for the 22, Inc. & the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce, and the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

“WaterStone Bank has always strongly believed in giving back to the local community. During these challenging times, we felt even more compelled to help,” said WaterStone Bank President & CEO Doug Gordon. “We are pleased to further support our local food banks, first responders and our veterans who are in need during this time.”

WaterStone Bank established the WaterStone Bank Foundation with the Waukesha County Community Foundation in 2002 in order to ensure the bank’s ability to continually give back to the communities in which it serves. The WaterStone Bank Foundation has four target areas for its grants: Community Development, Education, Women & Children and Veterans Initiatives.

About the Donations:

WaterStone Bank’s donation to Hunger Task Force will go toward its emergency response to coronavirus. The nonprofit continues to serve seniors, low-income households and children throughout Milwaukee County, and has also teamed up with Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee to provide food at certain club sites.

Lift for the 22, Inc. & the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce started the COVID-19 Relief Fund. WaterStone Bank’s contribution to the fund will go to support veteran-serving nonprofits who are impacted by COVID-19. All proceeds generated by the fund will go to nonprofit social services providing housing, health & wellness, and economic empowerment services to veterans, service members and their families.

WaterStone Bank’s donation to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin will help underwrite the following three needs as part of its COVID-19 Rapid Response Plan: pre-purchasing additional food to offset reduced food donations, provide resources to member pantries, and support the increase in staff overtime hours.

WaterStone Bank provided funds to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office to assist in purchasing personal protective equipment (PPE) and other necessary supplies for the County’s first responders.
