Wauwatosa, Wis. – 8/2/22 – WaterStone Bank announced today it will once again be hosting a school supply drive this summer to benefit children served by the Sojourner Family Peace Center. The Sojourner Family Peace Center is the largest nonprofit provider of domestic violence prevention and intervention services in Wisconsin.
Returning as the Sojourner Back-to-School sponsor for the third year, WaterStone Bank will be collecting new folders, notebooks, pens, and backpacks at all 14 branch locations from Monday, August 1 through Friday, August 12. Individuals interested in supporting the drive are encouraged to visit their local WaterStone Bank branch to drop off donations. Sojourner also has an Amazon wish list available for those who wish to donate larger items or donate virtually.
“The families we serve often struggle to meet basic needs,” said Sojourner President and CEO Carmen Pitre. “Providing school supplies for kids impacted by family violence meets two critical goals: setting up at-risk kids for academic success and easing the financial burden for survivors. We are grateful for WaterStone Bank’s commitment to strengthening families through education and community development initiatives.”
Each year, Sojourner hosts a Back-to-School Drive to make sure kids are prepared for school while they are experiencing tremendous transition. Sojourner partners with MPS social workers to ensure all Sojourner families have access to the supplies that will help make their student successful.
The WaterStone Bank Foundation was established in 2002 with the Waukesha County Community Foundation in order to ensure the bank’s ability to continually give back to the communities in which it serves. WaterStone Bank supports organizations that fall under its four core giving areas: community development, education, women & children, and veterans initiatives.
